National Institute for Agricultural Botany (NIAB) is a pioneering plant science organisation developing innovative skills to;
• engage in research relevant to crop improvement.
• deliver the practical benefits of their research to commercial plant breeders in the UK and developing countries.
Our visit to the Macleod Complex focuses on the challenges of introducing genetic material from wild species and strains into the genome of species of global human food importance.
G’s Growers Co-operative based at Hasse Fen - location of NIAB-managed AgriGate Research Hub - is an independent producer organisation comprising more than 20 grower members in the UK and Spain. G’s grower members share expertise, experience and knowledge to achieve economies of scale in ensuring efficient supply and year-round availability of quality vegetable produce across Europe and North America.
Our visit, led by G’s Director of Innovation, focuses on their continuous applied research in vegetable production - their successes and failures.
The distance between the locations is around 23 miles. If sufficient numbers, CSAR may be able to arrange transport.
