Dr. Stephen Ajadi (2023 CSAR Student Award winner )

28th Aug 2023

Stephen is building architecture pavilions showing construction and design techniques that can lead to building safer markets - one at Robinson College in Cambridge and one in Abuja in Nigeria. The project is being backed by Haptic Architects (for construction development) and AKT II, one of the foremost engineering offices in the world (for structural engineering).

The following media sources have done stories on Stephen's award and work:

Guardian, Vanguard, and the Tribune (and "Business Day" of Nigeria, but that's got a virus).

He will also be embarking on a series of workshops in universities as well as one with a major market in Abuja Maiduguri. This is where the funding received from the CSAR will be directed.

The CSAR award also contributed to his being asked by the Architectural Association school to design a course for their final year undergraduates on the impact of conflict in Africa, and teach it in the second term of the next academic session (January- April 2024). Stephen has designed the course and it has been approved; he will be in London next year to teach it.
